A New Favorite Website for Dealhunters

Are you one of those people that checks all those deal-a-day websites like Groupon or LivingSocial? Do you like knowing about all the latest sample sales and restaurant deals in your city? At the end of the day, do you like saving money. If you answered “yes” to any of the above, you should check out Yipit!

Yipit offers two services: Yipit Spotter and Yipit Perch.

Yipit Spotter, which is currently just for New York City, is a service that sends you deals for restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and other good deals, based on locations that you are interested in. For me personally, I’ve asked Yipit Spotter to send me deals near where I work (Midtown East), where I live (Downtown), and other places that I might frequent (i.e. Union Square).  Spotter will aggregate all the relevant deals together and sends them to you in a single email, for your convenience.

Yipit Perch, launched just last month, works on a similar aggregation principle, except that it functions to aggregate all the online daily deals (24 hour deals) from Groupon, LivingSocial, Scoop St, BuyWithMe, Adility Deal, and roughly 30 other similar sites. You can then customize your preferences to determine what kind of deals you receive (5 groups of preferences, with a total of 42 subgroups). If your primary interest is dining and nightlife, you can get Yipit Perch to send you just those deals. Have a friend coming to visit you soon? Just add in “Activities & Adventures” to your preferences.

Ready to save some money, and maybe try out a few things you never thought you’d try? If you live in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, London, LA, NYC, San Diego, San Francisco, or DC, sign up for Yipit! It literally takes 3 seconds to create an account!

After you save some green with Yipit, you can thank Vin and Jim, both of whom are alumni of my current firm. If you are a college student or recent grad and might be interested in doing some part time work on Yipit with Vin and Jim, please let me know, and I can put you in contact!

there is another website that aggregates daily deals:
    www.citydealtracker.com
the cool thing is that you dont have to sign up!
  • Thanks, Ted. It's true you don't have to sign up, but I think Yipit's value-add is that you can customize what you want to see, based on your preferences. Aggregation in one location is helpful and cuts down on visiting multiple sites, but it seems like with City Deal Tracker, you still have to sift through all the potential offerings, which (to me) is one of the biggest advantages of Yipit's two services.

    Thanks! Gotta try it :-)
  • No problem! Let me know how it works out for ya.

P.S. Philly's not available, though. But Vegas and NYC should be fine!
