Hi, it’s Mark Chou. I’m currently an associate with the New York City Investment Fund after working at The Blackstone Group in M&A. I graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and am interested in social entrepreneurship and venture capital (especially where they intersect), hence the name of this blog—SocentVC.
My previous social enterprise-related experience includes work with:
- Videre Microfinance Institution
- BlueOrchard Finance
- Charis Development Co. Ltd.
- Acumen Fund
- Echoing Green
My previous startup-related experience includes work with:
- Wikinvest.com (Senior Contributor)
- TapInko.com (Consultant)
- Founders Investment Banking (Internet & Digital Media Group)
- The Rockefeller Foundation (Small Business Advisor)
- Wharton Alumni Business Plan Competition (Media and Marketing Chair)
In addition to my current job, I volunteer on occasion with The Rockefeller Foundation and Acumen Fund, and was selected as a 2010 StartingBloc Fellow for Social Innovation. I am also a contributor to a new book called “What’s Next: Big Ideas from 25 Gen-Yers Under 25” and am working on an online startup. I was born and raised in the South and love my sweet tea. Check out my photography portfolio and find all of my web accounts on About.me.
